Women at MC Labour Services

Hiring for the skill set instead of gender has seen MC Labour Services (MC) grow a team with strength in diversity. A team that both supports the construction industry as well as the staff on the ground. From operations, warehousing, security, traffic management. All areas of construction, on the ground and in the office, MC has women supporting the business.

MC are proud to have approximately 500 women on the books of skilled labour hire staff. Growing over time, MC has a strong desire to continue to build this number. In April 2016, it was recorded by WGEA, that women constituted only 11.7% of the construction workforce. There is still a lot of room for improvement in this male-dominated industry, but MC believe in their people.

The future challenge is to ensure the industry is appealing to the younger generation. Retaining the strong workforce MC has will build the foundation to create an industry that young women want to be in. Wanting women to know they have a place in the construction industry. MC has faith that as a labour hire company they can offer that extra support. Building relationships with both clients and candidates allows MC to provide the right match, fostering industry growth and change.
