MC Labour partner up with Worksafe and the Australian Manufacturing Worker’s Union – Victoria Branch (AMWU) to tackle unsafe welding practices in the construction and manufacturing industries

MC Labour Services are embarking on an exciting new initiative which ensures that structural welding practices on-site are carried out to Australian Standards through testing and certification. There have been serious safety issues related to the performance, management and the integrity of on-site structural welding practices, which can result in disastrous structural collapse and cause serious and/or fatal injuries to workers (and other persons in the vicinity).

MC Welding Solutions in operation with Worksafe and the AMWU are addressing unsafe welding practices in the commercial construction and manufacturing industries. A rigorous testing and certification program has been developed and conducted at the MC Labour Services head office in Fitzroy North supervised by Ronald Smith, Senior Inspector of Welding Inspections ‘R’ Us in accordance with MC Labour’s Business Development Manager, John Emmett.

The program invites new and experienced welders to undertake a series of practical structural welding tests that are compliant with Australian Standards AS4100: Steel structures and AS/NZ1554: Structural Steel Welding which is necessary to meet requirements under the National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia.

Organisations that engage with MC Labour for workers that successfully complete the testing and certification program will have the peace of mind and confidence that the welding practices performed by the graduates or the MC Welding Solutions testing and certification program are compliant and possess the skills and technical abilities to perform quality welds.

“At MC Labour we do not compromise on safety. We also believe that every time we send someone out wearing the MC vest, we are confident in their abilities to execute the task at hand in the safest and most compliant way possible. We are excited to embark on this exciting new initiative with Worksafe and the AMWU and certain that this will encourage better and safer workplace practices within the Construction and Manufacturing Industry” says Marc Lunedei, Founder and Managing Director of MC Labour Services
